Renovation and adaptive reuse of an old industrial
building in Bucharest, Romania
The 5,000 sq.m. shell of an old and abandoned industrial building in Bucharest was converted into a warehouse-style retail store for VIOHALCO Group’s range of construction materials and related products.
In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the building, we sought to achieve a low cost and efficient facelift of the façades of the front building, where the main retail entrances and administration offices were to be located.
Applications of the client’s own products (louvers, glass curtain walls, etc.) were incorporated within a basic concept of retaining the building’s shell as originally constructed. Simple design details were adopted to allow for easy implementation by local contractors.
