New office building in front of old warehouse, ELVAL plant, Oinofyta
A new office building at the ELVAL S.A. plant at Oinofyta, to help with the company’s continuously growing need for more office space on the premises.
Set in front of the former “SCHNEIDER” premises (now part of the expanding ELVAL industrial plant), the new building will present a 3-storey 75 meters long facade window facing the National Highway.
Workspace and offices are placed in line behind its north-eastern front façade, divided into two wings that stretch out on either side of the main entrance’s central core. The construction grid allows for either 3,5 m. wide office units or larger open-plan workspace. Linear corridors stretch lengthwise on all three levels, splitting and organizing use of space: front zones hosting office spaces and large conference rooms, back zone to include utility and supplementary rooms, as well as smaller meeting rooms placed next to the open-air voids (to be filled with a tree) which allow southern sunlight to penetrate into the circulation corridors on all three floors of the building.
Following the tight spatial and vehicle circulation priorities on the premises, the ground floor is set back into a recess and stretches out to a shorter length as compared to the upper floors, in order to minimize its footprint. At the same time, this shrinking of the ground floor detaches the main mass of the building from the ground to distinguish it from the surrounding warehouses.
During its first phase, our architectural study has focused on a generic and flexible design, suitable to serve as either an additional engineers’ office building on the plant, or the company’s new headquarters. Following the final decision on this, the style of the outer layer (and its budget) can vary accordingly.
